Recognise the symptom

Think your car’s A/C has a leak?

Cooling loss can be a clue, but it doesn’t prove refrigerant is escaping.

Does this sound familiar?
  • Cooling has reduced or stopped
  • You have been advised the system may be low on refrigerant

What could be behind it?

Possible causes.
Possible next steps.

These are examples to help explain the symptom. More than one fault can cause similar behaviour.

Hose or connection leak

Leak testing may locate a repairable connection or damaged hose.

Condenser or evaporator leak

A confirmed component leak may require replacement.

A different fault

If a leak is not found, operation and controls may need further diagnosis.

Inspection confirms what your vehicle needs.

This information is general guidance, not a diagnosis or repair quote. All A/C concerns are subject to inspection and diagnosis. The required work and price can only be confirmed after assessment; none of the repairs listed above is guaranteed to be needed.

A regas does not repair a leak. If a leak is found, we discuss the required repair before recharging the system.
