Car AC Condenser Replacement
The Car AC condenser, located in front of the radiator is responsible for removing the heat from your A/C system. The condenser is made up of opposing end tanks with parallel aluminum tubes that sandwich aluminum fins.
While this unit is very effective at removing heat when clean, it can easily become blocked with road grime and dirt, reducing its operating efficiency and causing larger problems in the system. During car A/C servicing we will clean your condenser and also inspect it for leaks. In the event that your condenser is leaking, it will need to be replaced.
Your condenser sits at the very front of your engine bay (in front of the radiator) and is responsible for converting refrigerant from a gaseous to a liquid state. We are well equipped and experienced at replacing condensers, which is a common cause of A/C problems so contact Jack Frost today to see if your vehicle needs a Car AC condenser replacement.
What can cause an aircon condenser replacement?
When replacing your air conditioning condenser, you’ll likely need to replace some of the associated or connecting parts and components at the same time.
If a blockage has caused damage and the condenser can’t circulate the liquid or gas refrigerant properly, then the tubes, seals, and hoses come into play. They might only need a thorough flush or cleaning to restore their optimum performance. Still, with seals and leaky hoses, it’s often sensible to replace any that show signs of deterioration.
In worst-case scenarios, the potential damage it could cause to the compressor can lead to its failure and a further replacement.
How do I know if I need a new aircon condenser?
Typical symptoms of a faulty or broken air conditioning condenser include:
- Your air conditioning stops working.
- The air coming from your vents isn’t as cold as it usually is.
- You may suffer poorer fuel economy.
- Ticking noises coming from your engine.
- Patches of liquid around the air conditioning unit.
- You smell coolant in the car interior when the AC is running.
