Car Air Conditioning Inspection & Diagnostic FAQs

Our technicians answer the most common questions about car air conditioning inspections, diagnostics, and leak detection in Brisbane.

A 24-point car air conditioning inspection is a comprehensive diagnostic check of your vehicle’s AC system. It includes inspecting the compressor, condenser, evaporator, refrigerant pressure, cabin temperature output, airflow performance, electrical components, belts, hoses, cabin filters, and leak detection points.

This process helps identify faults before recommending repairs or a regas.

A full 24-point air conditioning inspection typically takes 30–60 minutes, depending on the vehicle and system condition. During this time, technicians test system pressures, airflow performance, compressor operation, and potential refrigerant leaks to accurately diagnose the issue.

Yes. A professional inspection is recommended before any regas. If your system has a leak or component fault, simply adding refrigerant will not fix the problem and the gas may escape again. A 24-point inspection ensures the system is safe and functioning correctly before performing a regas.

Common signs include:

  • Air conditioning blowing warm or weak air
  • Strange noises when the AC is turned on
  • Bad smells from the vents
  • Wet spots on passenger floor
  • AC working intermittently
  • Windows not demisting properly

If you notice any of these symptoms, a diagnostic inspection can identify the underlying cause.

Yes. During the inspection technicians check system pressures and inspect common leak points such as hoses, seals, compressor fittings, and the condenser. If needed, advanced leak detection methods such as Hydrogen & UV dye leak detection may be recommended. Hydrogen testing is one of the most accurate ways to identify refrigerant leaks.

Yes. Many AC systems gradually lose performance before a major failure occurs. A professional inspection can identify early issues such as low refrigerant, worn seals, or airflow problems, helping prevent costly repairs later.
